Five (unexpected?) things I need to tree plant

  1. Rubber Boots: these are for camp. They make life so much better, especially when the floor of the dining tent is three inches of mud
  2. Scarf: This is also for camp. I wear it over my head when it’s buggy.
  3. Bike glove: I wear this on the hand I hold my shovel with. Most people wear a glove on their other hand, but I like the bike glove for avoiding callousing and blisters. Yuck!
  4. Bag Balm: I get it from Lee Valley, it keeps my feet happy. And my hands when they get really dry.
  5. This was supposed to be a lunch pail, to keep my sandwich from getting squished, but I don’t have one yet. So it’s baby wipes: Take a shower in your tent!
Wilcox Saskatchewan!

Wilcox Saskatchewan!

We stopped (read: drove 2 hours out of the way, that plus the time spent at museum direct contributing factors to our marathon drive (30+ hours straight) to get to Sarah’s cottage by Saturday night) in Drumheller Alberta to see the Dinosaur Museum.  It was awesome.  The day we were there they were expecting their 10 000 000th visitor.  If we’d been about 200 people later we could have won a delightful $10 000 prize pack. Oh, well.

We actually drove past Marc and Effie on the highway leading to Drumheller.  It was a pretty crazy coincidence, we thought they were on their way to Vancouver.

The lighting in the museum might not have been exactly great for photography.  But dinosaurs were the theme for the trip and these pictures are too exciting not to include.  Dinosaurs! Real, live dinosaurs!

(Later August) More driving pictures.  This time we’re heading back from Van to Banff to pick up Jay.

(August) Luke and Christina’s fun-filled outing to Stanley Park.

Luke and me, and 700 other dear friends watching the sunset in Vancouver.

(August) Luke and self driving through Jasper again at the end of the summer.

Then driving by a huge huge huge burn on the way from Jasper to Van.

Me’n Brandon driving to Edmonton.  Notice the very-hansome dog in the back seat.  Also notice the bandages on Brandon’s hand.  He stabbed himself with a stick at work.

We had a fun-fun weekend, highlights included makeshift-dance party on Whyte Ave, Trip to the Art Gallery of Alberta, and 45 minute detours driving in and out of Edmonton.  Apparently we are not an unstoppable navigating team.

(June?)  I think these pictures are from the first Buchanan contract?  Clues include regular presence of Gill and Muddy, and Leroy as Pilot.

Note the pictures of Seismic Lines…. I really wanted to capture the scale of them.  You see them every time you fly in Northern Alberta.  They really go on forever.  It’s pretty terrifying.

(June) More pictures from our time in Hinton
